Clowns, samurai, Elvis and a golden age great will appear in the new Indie Comics Magazine, scheduled for preorder in Diamond Comic Distributors' August 2011 Previews catalog under Aazurn Publishing, and available ONLY through Previews.
"This issue offers more variety than ever before," said Editor Gary Scott Beatty. "From cosmic intergalactic battles to scary clowns to webcomics, we're featuring award winners, indy veterans and talented newcomers."
Appearing in Indie Comics Magazine #3 is Tim Tyler (Danger Angel), Carolyn Belefski (Curls), Paul Bradford (Astral Crusaders), Pat Martin (Students of the Unusual), Tim Vigil (Faust), Gary Scott Beatty (Jazz: Cool Birth), Kevin LaPorte and Amanda Rachels (Clown Town) and Scott Frantz (Darkstar).
A special appearance by Golden Age legend Allen Bellman, who worked on Captain America in 1942, rounds out the list of diverse talent. The Bellman story is offered through publisher 3 Boys Productions.
The cover to Indie Comics Magazine #3 features a full color "Space Dragon" painting by Susan Van Camp.
"We're different than other books," Beatty explained. "We feature done-in-one stories so readers can get a feel for what these creators can do. Short biographies and contact information are included with the stories so readers can easily seek out more of the creators' work. These details make Indie Comics Magazine a valuable resource for anyone interested in the world of independent comics."
The number of comic books, graphic novels and online entertainment available today can be overwhelming to a casual reader, said Beatty. "We help readers cut through the reviews and hype to experience these creators' raw talent.
"We were lucky to land different creators with a diverse range of storytelling styles. This is a real cross section of indy comic book genius!"
