Prolific illustrator Susan Van Camp's painting "Space Dragon" will grace the cover of Indie Comics Magazine #3, announced Editor Gary Scott Beatty. The magazine is scheduled for preorder in Diamond Comic Distributors' August 2011 Previews catalog and available ONLY through Previews.
Van Camp has illustrated 44 Magic: The Gathering cards, is a Dragon Storm RPG designer and cheerfully admits to being known in some circles as an "anthro artist." She paints dragons, fairies, angels cats, chinchillas, pets and much more from her studio in Flint, Michigan.
"I've admired her detailed paintings at conventions for years," said Beatty. "I'm really pumped to feature one of her many, beautiful dragon illustrations on Indie Comics Magazine #3."
Van Camp also publishes the online web comics Gatekeeper, Perils of Pearl and Familiar Place at myonlinecomics.com. Over 250 of her art prints are offered through Etsy and she is always happy to hear from people interested in commissions and original artwork.
"Illustrations, comics, commissions -- and she keeps up a blog that features new artwork," said Beatty. "She draws with graceful elegance, whether she's depicting a kitten or a slavering werewolf."
Each issue of Indie Comics Magazine features full stories from many independent comic book creators, said Beatty. Short biographies and contact information are included so readers can easily seek out more of the creators' work. Van Camp's blog is at svcstudio.blogspot.com.
